About this role
Python, Visual Basic, Copywriting, Data Processing, Excel, PDF, Copy Typing, Data Extraction, Data Analysis · I have a collection of PDFs that contain plain, selectable text. I need every character lifted from those files and placed into an Excel workbook, but with one extra requirement: a predefined set of keywords and short phrases must be captured in a separate column (or flagged in whatever way you think keeps the sheet clean and searchable).
The flow I picture is straightforward: open the PDF, copy-out or script-out the raw text, line it up in Excel by page or logical block, and have the keyword detector mark the hits so I can filter or pivot on them later. There are no embedded images or tables to worry about, so an automated pipeline in Python (PyPDF2, pdfplumber, or similar) or even a smart Acrobat + VBA routine should make quick work of it—as long as the accuracy stays at 100 %.
Deliverables • A single .xlsx file containing all extracted text, clearly segmented (page number or source file indicated). • A parallel column (or sheet) that lists each keyword/phrase occurrence alongside its context. • The script or macro you used, so I can rerun the process on future PDFs.
I’ll supply the sample PDFs and the exact keyword list once we start. Let me know the turnaround you
