Lightweight “S.s” Text Editor

JavaScript, Python, User Interface / IA, C++ Programming, Software Development, Qt, Software Engineering, Desktop Application · The goal is to create a clean, reliable text-only editor called “S.s”. It should open instantly, handle large plain-text files without lag, and provide the everyday essentials—new / open / save (with encoding options), fast search-and-replace, unlimited undo-redo, and simple preference settings for font, tab width, and line endings. A distraction-free writing mode and dark/light themes are desirable, yet the overall footprint must stay light so the app feels snappy even on modest hardware.

Cross-platform delivery (Windows, macOS, and Linux) in a single code-base is preferred; Electron, Qt, or any other modern toolkit is acceptable as long as you keep startup time low and distribution straightforward. Source code should be cleanly organised and thoroughly commented so future tweaks are easy.
