Long-Term Django Web Development

About this role
JavaScript, Python, Django, Software Architecture, Git, Docker, API Development, Terraform · I run several Django-based web applications that need ongoing feature development and maintenance. To keep up with our roadmap I’m looking for a developer who is comfortable settling in for the long haul, communicating clearly, and shipping production-ready code on a steady cadence.
The immediate focus is on three areas that touch nearly every part of the stack:
• Multi-factor user authentication – think TOTP, backup codes, and recovery flow all wired into Django’s auth system without breaking existing sessions. • Payment integration – we currently prototype on Stripe and will move to live transactions once the flow is stable, so expect webhooks, retries, and clean error handling. • API development – new and refactored REST endpoints powered by Django REST Framework, documented via OpenAPI, fully covered by tests.
All environments are Dockerised, version-controlled in GitHub, and deployed to AWS with Terraform, so familiarity there will help you hit the ground running.
Acceptance criteria for the first milestone: 1. Users can enable, verify, and disable multi-factor authentication from their profile. 2. Successful card payments trigger order creation and a receipt email
